Just giving some thoughts about 343i's latest project. I find it strikingly odd that 343i is adding certain things for Halo: Spartan Assault that were absent in Halo 4. I noticed that they added scoring. Yes, scoring would be typical for a top-down arcade shooter but why wasn't it available for Halo 4? They also added a new skull (hollow) which H4 has no new skulls. Next I noticed the return of several covie species like the brutes and drones but they're absent in H4 (not that I wanted them in that game but still). What explains their disappearance in the main game? Then 343i is using the previous physiology of the covie species such as the grunts, yet they retconned them in Halo 4. So I'm confused about that. Then we see several vehicles that were available for Halo 3 & wars (Hornet, Grizzly, etc..) in the game (whether the Hornet is usable or not has yet to be seen), yet these vehicles weren't included in Halo 4. Why? Why weren't these features/assets included in Halo 4? Could this be a hint that 343i will put more effort into Halo 5 when it comes to these features/assets?--Killamint [Comm|Files] 12:38, 8 June 2013 (EDT)

I think those things were included in Spartan Assault just for the sake of having a complete game. It's a "small" project and the Campaign will probably be short (2 hours?), so they want to make sure the game seems appealing. In addition, don't forget that Vanguard Games is also behind the game. I'm not sure about who did what, but I think 343i must have chosen the story and then they let Vanguard develop the gameplay part. These guys probably added some weapons/vehicles/species to the game because it would be "fun" and regarding the canon it's still possible to use all those things. Don't forget that the sandbox of Spartan Assault must be really different from Halo 4's one, it's not a good idea to compare the development of the Drones' AI in Spartan Assault and in the main games for example. Halo 4's sandbox must have been much harder to realise. Maybe 343i didn't have enough time to include some things, or they were simply too inexperienced and didn't manage their time and resources correctly. However, I do agree, though I like Halo 4, the game lacks many things : species, vehicles, features, etc.Imrane-117 (talk) 13:41, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
