- "Do you recall the Siege of Palghanar? One settlement held out against my forces for nineteen days. They fought well. To the end. But their fate was sealed from the start."
- — Escharum to John-117.[1]
The Siege of Palghanar was the Banished siege of at least one settlement on the Unified Earth Government colony of Palghanar.[2]
Background[edit]
The Banished raided a wide variety of targets indiscriminately for resources,[3] including Covenant bases,[4] Jiralhanae settlements on Doisac,[5] and human colonies as well.[2] One such siege was on a settlement on the Unified Earth Government world of Palghanar.
Battle[edit]
Banished forces led by War Chief Escharum attacked one settlement on Palghanar, which held out for nineteen days before they were finally defeated.[1] During the raid, the Wraithmaster Ordo 'Mal killed hundreds owing to his expertise as a Wraith pilot.[2]
Aftermath[edit]
In May 2560, Escharum recalled the Siege of Palghanar while awaiting a final battle between himself and the Master Chief. Escharum stated that while the residents had fought well and to the end, their fate had been sealed from the start.[1]
