N'tho 'Sraom[1] was a male Sangheili assigned to the Special Warfare Group of the Fleet of Retribution.

Background

'Sraom is the youngest member of his Special Operations unit and is one of a growing number of Human sympathizers amongst the Sangheili youth. He was born into the Sraom lineage, and lived in the state of Sraom. He is a fairly typical young male adult Sangheili, he began compulsory military service at the end of adolescence, and remains unmarried with no close, non-familial relationships outside of his martial order. N'tho 'Sraom refused to stand indolently by while the Prophets replaced Sangheili units with Jiralhanae packs, and now bears deep resentment toward those politicians who landed his kind in their current predicament.

Although N'tho 'Sraom's romanticized nationalism is emblematic of all Sangheili, he has developed a healthy respect for Humanity, not for their physical abilities or martial prowess, but for their audacity and resolve.

N'tho also appears to have been vital in giving intelligence on Covenant military structure and tactics, such as information on the Brute Chopper.[2]

N'tho appears to be a Minor Domo Elite, but could also be Stealth Elite (given his armor and skill in combat, this is more likely) due to the color of his armor (Minor is blue, SpecOps is black in Halo CE and dark blue in Halo 2). [3]

Trivia

  • It should be noted that his name lacks the ee suffix associated with Elites in armed service. However, when Rtas 'Vadum was mentioned on Usze's page, the ee suffix was also missing. This is probably because the Elites are no longer listed in the Covenant army/military, and they no longer use the ee suffix.
  • N'tho 'Sraom is a playable character in Halo 3 as the third player character over either Xbox Live or System Link and Campaign Co-op mode
  • The character's name first appears in the Bungie.net article describing the Brute Chopper, even before the announcement of four-player co-operative play (Though then he was called 'N'thro 'Sraom).
  • N'tho has apparently been a vital source of information for the UNSC, detailing Jiralhanae rank structure and, in particular, the specific role the Choppers play within the Jiralhanae ranks.[4][5]
  • It is interesting to note that N'tho never opens his right eye. This may be just a glitch, an oversight by Bungie, his eye may have been damaged in a fight, or he's just blind in that eye. Sometimes when he is killed he will reappear with both eyes open but they won't blink like the Arbiter and the other AI Elites.
  • In Halo 3 Co-op mode, when he activates his flashlight, the light is simply there with no point of origin, no visible flashlight is on his shoulder. This also applies to Usze 'Taham as well.
  • If you look closely on N'tho's left or right arm, you can see three or more Forerunner Glyphs on it.
  • His weapons, along with his Elite companions, are holstered backwards.
  • Occasionally, 'Sraom will spawn without a helmet.
