The Colonial Military Administration Season of Plenty was a human ship prior to the Insurrection.
Background
Its primary purpose was ferrying supplies to aid in the establishment of new colonies and settlements. The Season of Plenty has the distinction of being the first ship on which future-Admiral Preston Cole served.[1]
Operational history
On September 22, 2489, the ship was helping to establish a new city dubbed "Lazy Acres" on a world called Paradise Falls. As the ship was preparing to leave, its new "smart" AI, Lorelei, went offline for routine maintenance. Rather than reboot the backup intelligence, Lieutenant Commander Nevel ordered Ensign Otto Seinmann to brush up on his Shaw multivariate calculus by performing a rough slipspace calculation by hand.
Instead of doing the calculation himself, Seinmann performed a rough version in one minute, then had Crewman Apprentice Preston Cole finish his work for him. Seinmann's plan backfired when Nevel found out. Nevel was impressed when he saw that Cole had actually come up with a new way of calculating input parameters, and recommended the crewman for reassignment to Luna OCS Academy.
Complement
The ship had a very crowded bridge, and had auxiliary stations on the ceiling and floor in case the rotating segment failed and simulated gravity was lost.
