Revenant redirects here. For the Covenant frigate, see Revenant (ship).

The Type-48 Light Assault Gun Carriage, more commonly known as the Revenant, is a Covenant Army vehicle that was utilized during the Fall of Reach.[1]

Design details

The Revenant is a light infantry support vehicle with driving mechanics similar to those of the Type-32 Rapid Assault Vehicle. It is armed with a single light plasma mortar, which is essentially a downscaled version of the plasma mortar mounted on the Covenant Type-25 Assault Gun Carriage. The weapon can be fired approximately every two to three seconds by the vehicle's driver. The Revenant is more agile than most vehicles and has the ability to boost, but provides little protection for its occupants. It can carry one passenger in a side seat.[1][2] The Revenant also appears to be a slight deviation from the Covenant's usual design scheme, taking on a more angular, burgundy look as opposed to the more bulbous, purple, blue, and iridescent green designs of other Covenant vehicles.

Tips

Campaign

  • The Revenant appears in many campaign levels, but is only moderately effective at killing enemies.
  • The main gun will kill most enemies in 1-3 hits depending on the difficulty and which enemy is being shot.
  • As far as splattering enemies, the vehicle is slightly more effective than the Ghost due to its increased size.
  • When fighting Wraiths in the Revenant, ensure that you stay around two Revenant lengths away. This distance ensures that the Wraith will not fire its plasma mortar, as well as giving you sufficient room to dodge.
  • The Revenant is an effective vehicle for engaging Hunters from a distance, as it is quick and agile enough to dodge their projectiles, and its cannon is powerful enough to inflict damage upon the Hunters.

Multiplayer

  • The Revenant's speed, durability, and power make it a great choice in objective game-types such as Capture the Flag.
  • If two people are in a Revenant, the passenger could be a great ally if armed with a power weapon such as a Plasma Pistol for disarming more powerful vehicles.
  • Do not engage a Scorpion with a Revenant as its main cannon will destroy it with a single hit. However, the Wraith can be destroyed by a skilled player. Ensure that you circle using the boost to dodge the slower moving Wraith projectiles and attack the sides and back.
  • Warthogs, Ghosts, Mongooses, and other Revenants can all easily be engaged.
  • The Revenant is a poor choice for combating Banshees or a Falcon, as both can easily avoid the relatively slow moving mortar shots.
  • The Revenant is one of the most splatter capable vehicles in the game, with both its sides and it's front extremely lethal, especially when combined with the boost.

Bugs

Multiplayer

  • The Revenant can be sent flying (and crashing, respectively) sometimes, due to buggy physics related to collision correction. (mostly when being driven on top of a forged Colosseum Wall)

Trivia

  • In folklore, a revenant is a visible ghost or animated corpse that terrorizes the living.
  • The Revenant's targeting reticule is almost identical to that of the Type-52 Directed Energy Support Weapon, while its projectile is similar to those of the concussion rifle and the Type-52 Troop Carrier's plasma cannon.
  • The Revenant is listed as the Type-32 RAV on Bungie.net's career stats section. This is actually the designation of the Ghost.
  • When boosting, the Revenant will cause a Ghost to explode if hit either head on or from the side; this applies to a Mongoose as well, although the Mongoose will more than likely, when hit, just be sent flying.
  • Oddly, despite the Revenant's gun being mounted on a turret, the turret only turns in a limited arc before the whole vehicle turns. However, the AI is capable of rotating the Revenant's turret without turning the vehicle.
