"Gatherers"[1] are Forerunner machines whose primary function is to gather specimens of different species and to transport them for study and cataloging. So far, these machines have only been observed operating from Line Installation 1-4 on an Unnamed Moon.[2]
Description
Gatherers consist of a fairly large main body with three red eyes, with a holding tank for captured specimens on their backs, filled with a purple liquid. They have eight tentacle-like clawed arms, as well as two much smaller arms, and are armed with an energy weapon similar to the Sentinel Beam, located below the tentacles. They have four legs, although they have been seen floating through the air.
Trivia
- The aesthetics of the Gatherer is strikingly similar to that of armored Covenant Huragok. It is possible that the design for the mechanisms attached to the Engineers was derived from that of the Gatherers, or vice-versa.
