Moonbase Alpha is the codename for one of the Halo 3 Downloadable Content multiplayer maps . It has been described that its fairly large, and is best suited for games such as Capture The Flag and Assault. It has also been stated that it has some unique characteristics that make Slayer interesting and Infection terrifying. It was the first DLC Map to be announced, with the other being Jodrell Bank. Also in the Bungie Weekly Update 1/11/07 it said that fans of Elongation would enjoy the map. This does NOT mean it is a remake or a spiritual successor, but could relate to the fact Elongation is on a space station. It might have been renamed to Cottonball because Bungie claims they're both huge maps. The said release date to Cottonball, O.K. Corrall, and Moonlight Sonata will be February 17. remember that these may not be the real names for these maps because they are only nicknames set upon by bungie professionals.

Trivia

• The name Moonbase Alpha may or may not be a reference to a line said by a character in the Austin Powers movie franchise.
• The name Moonbase Alpha may or may not be derived from the long canceled Space: 1999 TV series.
