"Boxer" is a button layout in Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Advantages

The position of the button allows the player to melee during combat while still permitting the turning action. This proves effective in mid-jump battles where it is easy to be assassinated if the back is exposed due to lack of maneuverability. This button layout is consequently ideal for a sword only gametype

Disadvantages

The main drawback this setting poses and exemplifies is that it delays the player from meleeing and beating down an opposing player immediately after dual-wielding weapons are dropped. Another issue is that since the grenade button is set to "B", it does not allow the player to aim the grenade throw very accurately.

Trivia

  • Many players use this button layout on close-quarters battles, where meleeing is a good way to get kills.
