Jiralhanae Snipers[2] are Jiralhanae specialists that serve the Banished.[1]

Overview

Like Kig-Yar Snipers, Jiralhanae snipers serve as long-ranged combat specialists, though they are more durable and less stealthy than their Kig-Yar counterparts. Jiralhanae snipers can operate alone or in groups.[1]

Jiralhanae snipers are recruited from the greatest outland hunters who are naturally skilled at tracking prey and trained within their birth-clans. They are adept warriors capable of neutralizing threats many thousands of meters away, often without ever being seen. Snipers place themselves in elevated positions around Banished outposts and redoubts, allowing them to scan the battle lines for the slightest hint of movement. Banished hunting and raiding parties usually host snipers aboard war-sleds and skiffs, in order to track and target enemies from a distance, even during the heat of the chase.[2]

History

Many Jiralhanae snipers fought in the war for Zeta Halo.[1] Escharum deployed units consisting entirely of snipers to hunt down and eliminate the remaining Spartans on the Ring.[2]

Equipment

Armor

Jiralhanae snipers are equipped with specialized sensor arrays and native-link optics suites integrated into their armored helmets.[2]

Weaponry

Blue armored Jiralhanae snipers typically utilize Flaktura Workshop Skewers as their primary weapons and carry Manglers as sidearms, while red armored snipers usually wield shock rifles as their main weapons and carry Disruptors as sidearms. Both variants carry spike grenades.[1]

Gameplay

The Jiralhanae snipers are the Jiralhanae counterpart of the Kig-Yar Snipers, albeit with different weapons, more melee damage, and more health. They will take aim at the player with triple-beamed laser-sights. The beams converge into a single beam, at which point the sniper will fire. When engaged at close-quarters, snipers will typically switch to their sidearms. Although stronger than their Kig-Yar counterparts, Jiralhanae snipers wear minimal body armor and are only slightly more durable than a standard, non-shielded warrior. Like other Jiralhanae enemies in the game, their helmets can be shot off, rendering them vulnerable to headshots. Destroying their helmets also eliminates their laser-sights, but does not affect their accuracy.[1]

Trivia

  • If grappled by an upgraded grappleshot, blue Jiralhanae snipers will not be electrocuted. They will instead assume a defensive posture and freeze themselves in place for several seconds (essentially the same effect).
