Energy Bridge on Installation 04.

The Energy Bridge is one of the many mysterious technologies seen on Installation 04. The Forerunners built Halo with many interesting and unknown technologies, one of which is the energy bridge. It is a bridge comprised of "solid" energy, which can support an enormous amount of weight. The bridge works when a switch triggers increased photonic activity, and the photons displace the air around the light path. When this happens, the light becomes coherent and solid.

These bridges were seen throughout Installation 04, most notably bridging a chasm in the Halo level. However, several such bridges were also seen in 343 Guilty Spark in the Flood Containment Facilities. They appeared to be a precaution to prevent escaped Flood from accessing higher areas of the facility, but many were broken and rendered obsolete by the jumping abilities of the Combat Forms.
