The Type-58 Directed Energy Support Weapon (T-58 DESW)[1] or Shea'p-pattern Sweeping Turret,[2] simply known as the plasma cannon or plasma turret, is a portable support turret that was in service with both the Swords of Sanghelios and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant during the Blooding Years. In addition to being used as a stationary and portable turret, it was also used as secondary weapons for the Mikpramu-pattern Phantom, Type-58 Wraith, Banished Phantom, and Banished Wraith.[3][5] It replaces the previous Type-52 plasma cannon.
Overview
The T-58 DESW exchanges San'Shyuum refinement and grace seen in earlier models for Sangheili simplicity and ease of manufacture. Temperamental and heavy, the desperate need for these heavy weapons by the warring factions outweighs any concerns about their quality.[1]
