Operational history
Installation 07 conflict
- Main article: Installation 07 conflict
In 2560, the Gbraakon captures Pelican Echo 216 in its stasis beam shortly after the pilot rescues Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 from where he has been floating in space for six months. As the Pelican is pulled into the Banished warship's interior, the Master Chief jumps out and makes his way aboard with the intention of disabling the ship's stasis beam and freeing the Pelican.
Fighting his way through the Gbraakon, the Master Chief eventually makes his way to the engine room, where it deactivates the stasis beam. However, he discovers that the system is locked down and that he can't disable it without performing a hack into the nearby terminals, which he is unable to do, lacking the skills or an AI companion to help him. Instead, the Master Chief decides to destroy the Gbraakon by taking out the two cooling pipes to the engines, which will cause them to overheat. Fighting through more Banished forces, the Master Chief manages to take out the pipes before firing the engines, instantly causing them to overheat and the ship to begin to explode. War Chief Escharum contacts the vessel, demanding to know what's going on, only to be amused to discover that the Master Chief is alive and responsible. Escharum tells him to destroy the ship if he must, but that the Banished will still defeat him in the end. As the ship explodes around him, the Master Chief races back to the hanger bay where Echo 216, now free of the stasis beam, is able to take off. The Master Chief is knocked into space, where the Pelican collects him soon afterwards.
Escharum and Tremonius watch a hologram of the Gbraakon being wracked by explosions as Tremonius is furious about this turn of events as the Master Chief is supposed to be dead, but Escharum feels invigorated instead.[1]
