New Picture
I added a size comparison and a gallery to put it in. I hope this is within Halopedia's standards...? —This unsigned comment was made by Novateamone (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- Since there are no official images of a Greater Ark, to my knowledge, I would deduce that this is a fan-created comparison. More likely than not, we can't use it because it uses unverified information, and may be misleading - where does anything say a Greater Ark have only six arms, for example? Or is that big? -- Specops306 Autocrat Qur'a 'Morhek 23:56, 20 April 2012 (EDT)

- Despite the factual basis, I'd still argue the image is too speculative. The caption acknowledges it's "estimated", yes, but how much do we really know about the greater Ark? It's not exactly described in detail, so the proportions might be entirely different than those of Installation 00. Everything that matters is already described in the article and people should be able to make their own conclusions based on that alone. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 12:33, 22 April 2012 (EDT)
If you like, I could pull it back down, or improve the caption...? Novateamone 19:02, 22 April 2012 (EDT)
Yes, I DID create this image, so it is fan-made. However, I took great care in creating and editing this new comparison. The old one was a place holder, and I have done everything I can to make sure it is as accurate as I can make it. I figured that since the Greater Ark made Halos with thirty thousand kilometer diameters, all that would really need to be done is simply multiply the dimensions of the Lesser Ark by three, and edit it so that it has six arms instead of eight. I urge you to allow this photo to stay on the page; however, if you really insist, I will take it down... Novateamone 19:02, 22 April 2012 (EDT)
- I think it's extremely well done, and an exception should be made to allow it to stay. Surely we can simply be very clear it's fan made. Alex T Snow 19:16, 22 April 2012 (EDT)
- Still the image is too speculative. As per Jugus, we have enough of a description to where readers can make their own conclusions solely based on that alone.-- Col. Spartacus Talk Page Contributions 19:25, 22 April 2012 (EDT)
- I agree it's well done, especially the updated one, but that's not really the issue. The thing is, there's a chance images like these might give some people the wrong idea that it's an official representation, regardless of whether we acknowledge it's "estimated" or not. And again, the novel didn't offer a very specific description of the structure - whether it's just an outright scaled-up Installation 00 with six arms, or if there are more major differences, like the proportions or length of the arms or the central disk. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 01:15, 23 April 2012 (EDT)
- Could it be moved to the talk page? Alex T Snow 01:14, 23 April 2012 (EDT)
- I think it would be fine on the talk page. Shall I? Novateamone 19:52, 25 April 2012 (EDT)
- Adding talk page gallery. Any objections, just let me know. Novateamone 17:11, 28 April 2012 (EDT)

Greater Ark Makes Shield Worlds?
I have no factual basis for this, just speculation. What if all the shield worlds except Requiem are different variants, and Requiem is a prototype or original version, made from an actual planet encased in a shell by the Greater Ark, and there are more shield worlds of the same class as Requiem, one for each of the 12 original(as in the 30 thousand kilometer version) Halos (all made at the Greater Ark)? And then the Halos that came after that, along with the shield worlds were variants of the original designs? Wouldn't that be interesting? Novateamone 17:13, 4 June 2012 (EDT)
Distance from the Galaxy
This article claims that the greater Ark was two-thirds more distant from galactic center than the lesser Ark, but I think this is misreading of the source material. As quoted on this page, Halo: Silentium says "Unbeknownst to most, the lesser Ark, hidden a third of the way around the outer boundaries of the galaxy." To me, that simply says it's one-third of the way around the galaxy's edge from the location of the greater Ark, not one-third the distance from galactic center.
Installation 00 is already about the same distance from our Galaxy as the Large Magellanic Cloud, which was a taxing trip for the Forerunners. I have trouble believing they somehow managed get ~780,000 ly out to build the greater Ark. --Toa Freak (talk) 09:48, 15 September 2016 (EDT)
