It is one of the bonus videos featured in the Special Edition of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn viewable via Halo Waypoint. Produced by Herzog & Company, it contains behind-the-scenes insight into the production of the film, including interviews with the cast and crew and chronicles the progress of making the film from the initial stages to the production's conclusion.[1]

"Sleeper" was the production title of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.[2] The title of the documentary may be a nod to a line in the 1984 film Dune, based on a science fiction novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, in which the protagonist Paul Atreides declares that "The sleeper has awakened!"
