Ru'swum-pattern Phantom

Were you looking for the Type-52 Phantom seen in Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach?

The Type-44 Troop Carrier, commonly known as the Phantom, is a Covenant dropship manufactured by Achoem Weapons.^[1]

Overview

The Type-44 Phantom's prominence was due to its speed, maneuverability, and firepower in atmospheric and exoatmospheric environments.^[1] It was later supplanted by a newer model, the Type-52, which was ubiquitous later in the Human-Covenant War. The Covenant remnant use the Type-44 as their primary dropship, likely due to the scarcity of the newer model.

Trivia

In terms of outward appearance and armament, the Type-44 Phantom is nearly identical to the Phantoms featured in Halo: Reach. However, the Phantoms in Reach are designated as Type-52, the model encountered in the original trilogy; given that the Type-52 Phantoms in Halo 2 and Halo 3 differ in both visual appearance and weaponry from the Type-52 Phantoms in Reach, it is possible that the Phantoms in both Halo 4 and Reach are meant to be Type-44 Phantoms.
