The Denisovans were a prehistoric species of human, closely related to Homo sapiens and Neanderthals. The Denisovans were genetically similar enough with these groups to interbreed with both species. An unknown number of Denisovans were present on Installation 07, along with several other species of human. It is unknown what happened to the Denisovans as a whole, but it is likely they became extinct or merged with other species of human through interbreeding.[1]
