"This is SPARTAN Group Omega. If they want war, we'll give 'em war!"
— A member of SPARTAN Group Omega during the Second Battle of Harvest.

SPARTAN Group Omega is a UNSC Naval Special Warfare unit assigned to the modified-colony ship, UNSC Spirit of Fire [1].

Background

They seem to be equipped, with the MJOLNIR Mk IV Battle Armor, with an external plate, on the right shoulder. They were armed with BR55 Battle Rifles, in the original trailer.

Omega, is most likely to have anywhere from 5-15 SPARTAN-IIs, in the unit of all expertise, making it a squad-sized Special Operations unit.

Game Unit

In-game, Spartan Group Omega (or rather Spartan-IIs as a whole) are without shields but heal quickly. They have to be managed carefully lest they be wiped out. They are armed with M7/Caseless Submachine Guns, with the opportunity to be upgraded to turrets and even Spartan Lasers [2]. Also, as seen in the E3 Demo, the Spartans are capable of hijacking and piloting enemy vehicles, similar to its FPS counterpart but in much faster rate.

Trivia

Squad leader of SPARTAN Group Omega
  • Spartan Group Omega is a playable unit type in the game, Halo Wars.
  • The name of the team is Spartan "GROUP" Omega instead of Team Omega. That signifies that Spartan Group Omega is larger than the 2-4 Spartan teams referenced throughout the series that are usually designated by a simple color.
  • Halo Wars will most likely give the names of these SPARTANs throughout the course of the game. However, it's unknown if they are considered the 33 surviving Spartans from the augmentation process.
  • They all wear MJOLNIR mark IV's and strangely also can be upgraded to have AI's even though that is impossible.
  • From the new cover of Halo Wars it is likely that MA5B Assault Rifles are used by this group.
  • It has been confirmed that Master Chief is not a member of Spartan group Omega at the time of Halo Wars, though he may have been some other time.
