The icy unknown planet might be Harvest before its atmosphere dissipated.--Ryanngreenday 18:34, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah! good piont, Do you think you fight the battle for the harvest system then ? --Climax Viod 19:15, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I hope not I don't like losing and I dislike even more when you have to win you defeet the enemy then in the cutscene you lose when you shouln't.--Ryanngreenday 19:34, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

actually, eventaully the UNSC takes it back. I think it's 2531, or near then. so it's possible! -SpecOps306

It might be another time anomaly because of all the things like battle rifles and mark 6 armor --Climax Viod 19:37, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

whats Phoenix-classfaction ED? --Climax Viod 19:31, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't know. Its the first time I've heard of it. But look at the ship's symbol, go to the "images" section of the halowars.com site, when you click on an image and it opens in a new window. The ship symbol is there, along with all this info. (Hit stop on your browser before the pic fully loads) -ED 19:42, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

ok thanks

I would venture to guess CFV would mean something like "Fast Carrier" (similar to a Strike Carrier, perhaps?). I'm basing this on the use of similar Hull Classification Symbols used in Star Fleet Battles, where the "C" commonly meant Cruiser, and "V" was used for carriers, (In SFB, carriers were usually built based on cruiser hull size equivalent designs.)...I'm guessing the "F" is for designation of a Fast Variant. Note that this is conjecture on my part though.

Another thing to think about, using the United States Navy designation, CV does mean carrier, but CF means Flight deck Cruiser. This could be relevant Darkfire27983 22:49, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Fixed a spelling error

Heavy was spelled wrong. --JohnSpartan117 01:48, 29 September 2006 (UTC) you dont need to say you did it, just put minor edit on etc.

wow! congratulations you fixed a spelling error you want gold medal?

Spirit of Fire a Super Carrier?

Read the headline it is possible that the Spirit of Fire is a super carrier it is Possible?

Anything is possible at this point, there are no released details about the game yet. --ED(talk)(gaming) 16:48, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Age?

The ship's symbol says it was constructed in the year 2418, does that mean the ship is over 100 years old? --SILENT ONE 21:21, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Yup, looks like it. --UNSC Trooper Unsctrooper small.jpg TalkMy Work 14:06, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Contact Harvest and The Picture

I don't remember anything in Contact Harvest about a polar area.JanSpartan117 BLAM! Grunts Rule! 05:00, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, and waht does Contact Harvest have to do with the Spirit of Fire? The Spirit of Fire doesn't go to Harvest in the game. --Ajax 013 06:31, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

What? Yes it does. That's where the game is set. Specops306, Kora 'Morhek 23:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

First of all the spratans have mark 4 armor not 6 for halo wars. Second the Spirit of Fire is a colony ship which is turn into a UNSC ship during war time.

==Snow(?)==

Are we sure it's snow? Volcanic ash looks similar to snow, though darker. Considering the fact that it was just glassed, I'm not discounting the possibility that it's not snow they're wading through but the incinerated remains of the colony world's surface drifting back down through the atmosphere. Their gear could be meant to stop them from inhaling the ash, which is extremely dangerous. Does anyone else think the same? Specops306, Kora 'Morhek 23:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Wrong talk page. Sorry. Specops306, Kora 'Morhek 00:01, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Change

Note that Ensemble Studios changed the date of construction from 2418 to 2473! --UNSC Trooper Unsctrooper small.jpg TalkMy Work 10:15, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Trivia(?)

What relevance has the Captain Keyes part got to do with the article? There's nothing in the Halo Canon to suggest that the Spirit of Fire was the ship Keyes saved, so i'm removing it. Specops306, Kora 'Morhek 23:54, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Starship Troopers

The albatross on the side of the hull must have been copied from the Rodger Young launching dropships from the side

They Are Heavy Dropship's. Shipmaster117 10:32, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

They aren't Albatrosses. They're much larger, and fulfill a different function than the Albatross. As for whether they copied Starship Troopers, I refuse to see it on principle given the atrocious acting and stereotypical plot, and the fact that it's almost a spoof of the original novel. -- Councillor Specops306 - Kora 'Morhek 10:54, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Carrier vs. Colony Ship

spirit of fire is a colony ship because it was used to colonies planets and a super-carrier isn't used for those purposes. it is definitely a colony ship, a phoenix class colony ship.plus it is a woping 4.7km long. so yeh it is a colony ship. wouldn't it be so cool if we could pilot the spirit of fire and start firing its mac. probably a super mac if you ask me. start destroying other ships. if you go on YouTube look for the halo wars demos. pods come down from spirit of fire to build a base

For all intents and purposes, it is a Carrier. It transports military equipment and personnel, and is operated by the military to participate in military operations. It used to be a colony ship until it recieved a refit, adding more armour and weapons. Given that it is no longer used to colonise any planets, it no longer is a colony ship. And your length is wrong - its 2.7 kilometers, not 4.7 - anonymous IP's keep spamming the page with the incorrect number. --Councillor Specops306 - Qur'a 'Morhek 20:57, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

spirit of fire is a colony ship cause it sends down albatrosses to the ground that carry supplies and building materials . how on earth can it be a carrier when the lead designer of HALO WARS says that it is a RE-PURPOSED COLONY SHIP and was assigned to military use. And on the spirit of fire article it says it is a colony ship.

It WAS a colony ship, now a military carrier. 1st Class Cadet ONI recon 111 | File:1227612553 First3.jpg 20:21, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
As per ONI, the emphasis on your statement is on re-purposed.--Councillor Specops306 - Qur'a 'Morhek 21:12, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

its a colony ship you don't read the article about spirit of fire do you it is obviously a colony ship proof... .the lead designer says it is a RE-PURPOSED COLONY SHIP OR MODIFIED COLONY SHIP FITTED WITH A MAC, ARCHER PODS AND OTHER ARMAMENTS .IT CARRIES SUPPLIES AND SENDS THEM DOWN TO THE GROUND VIA ALBATROSS DROPSHIP .IT HOUSES BUILDING MATERIALS AND WEAPONS, VEHICLES, AND AIRCRAFT. ADMIT IT IS A COLONY SHIP YOU CAN MODIFY A CIVILIAN SHIP INTO A WARSHIP WHILE STILL KEEPING ITS CLASS OR TYPE OF SHIP. JUST BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN MODIFIED INTO WARTIME USE DOESN'T MEAN IT ALL OF A SUDDEN IT BECOMES A CARRIER.

AND WITH PROOF IT IS A COLONY SHIP WHY DON'T YOU PROVE ME WRONG!!!!!

Yes, you can keep the ship's previous class and designation, but the very fact that the Spirit of Fire has been re-fitted or re-purposed obviously indicates it doesn't serve as a colony ship anymore. It serves as a military warship and also ACTS as a carrier. The difference consists in its activity and current purpose, not in its class. --UNSC Trooper Unsctrooper small.jpg TalkMy Work 17:54, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

so it is still a colony ship but assigned for military purposes and needs. you can get military colony ships/warships. 5th January 2009.

or could spirit of fire be a super-carrier due to its immense size and firepower. Are you saying it is still a flaming pigeon class colony ship but it is used as a carrier/super-carrier. It is used as a super-carrier/carrier.

Exact Measures

Hello, I just know here in Halopedia. I've been absent for quite a while but I have returned. There is only one question: In the article "List of Starships" the Phoenix-class Colony Ship is 4700 meters in the list but in the article "UNSC Spirit of Fire" is the 2.5 km. I am someone please clarify the doubt, will thank you a lot. H A L O Legend

yeah it is confusing because if spirit of is modified than it should be...you know...loooooooonger.

Why would it be longer? Its possible to upgrade a ship without changing its size. There's no source we know of that says the Spirit of Fire is more than 2.7 kilometers long. We have a source for that figure. --Councillor Specops306 - Qur'a 'Morhek 00:50, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

MAC(s)

In this front view of the ship I think we can see 3 mac guns... shapeimage_1.png

They could be, but they could also be point defence turrets. --Councillor Specops306 - Qur'a 'Morhek 00:51, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

isn't it possible that the spirit of fire has 4 MAC guns because on the level dome of light at the end you got to shoot through that big hole in the shield dome but when serina takes control she says that the MAC's are online and she goes crazy with the MAC gun(s). just a theory. it's possible that it has 4 MAC guns because you can fire 4 rounds in rapid succession one after another or it's just a MAC gun with...a bit too much juice!!

it is possible, but improbable. even if the ship was designed to fire shots with less power, the ability to recapture the cannons charge wasn't seen until 2552 on the PoA. Also, it is improbable that the ship could land the rounds with such accuracy. Take the ODST pods for example, even in 2552 with thrusters and even an AI and a firing system designed to fire into atmosphere, they didn't land precisely on target. So it seems unlikely that an unguided MAC round would be able to. Would it be more practical to just assume that the feature was added to balance the gameplay, but isn't as accurate with previous cannon as it should be?

I don't find it at all improbable, not least because the US military has purposed more or less exactly the same thing before: http://www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2004-06/rods-god

As for rapid fire people boggling over it are making two key mistakes IMO:

-Assuming All MAC guns are the same caliber and same cyclic rate, clearly already untrue just by looking at the gun on the back of the Hog.

-Assuming the gun must discharge at maximum output for every shot, also untrue as the nice thing about an EM gun like this is that more juice equals more push, but less still gives SOME push. There is no real reason the gun couldn't be fired rapidly at say 10% power if the loading system could support it.

Going by the above the Spirits MAC gun power isn't hard to explain at all the MAC is simply firing at lower power settings feed by a large reactor array. Plantside effects reinforce this as if it was a full size MAC round firing at C fractional speeds the effect would not be like a large conventional bomb it would be like the Tsar bomb (at least). The MAC being used in game for fire support is likely loaded with lightweight bombardment rounds (probably with some guidance in the form of fins or such) at lower power settings for close support of ground troops. (Since hurling what amounts to nuclear weapons near friendly potions is discouraged...) TK3997 02:23, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Weapons

what about the large deployable cannons which rise up to combat the enemy Destroyer after coliding with it, i do not believe these to be 50mm PDF guns simply because of their size and the difference between them and the ones seen on the UNSC Frigate 'Forward Unto Dawn' aswell as this the rounds seen firing are a single rouind that looks something like that of a Gauss cannon? J!MMY8806 19:00, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Also on 'Mission 6: Dome of Light' on Halo Wars toward the end of the mission after penetrating the bubble shield the ship's A.I. speaks to the player telling him he has control of a cannon which is what the other MAC's must be, and at the beginning of the mission the captain asks if they could destroy the shield with their cannons. J!MMY8806 23:03, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

the canons that rise up from spirit of fire are deck guns used for direct combat.

source?J!MMY8806 22:32, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

it would be logical to assume that they would be used for direct combat because slugs of that low mass would never be able to used for a space to ground assault. Also, the point of a defense system is to be able eliminate single ships. Gauss Cannons take time to recharge, so would be ineffective against single ships that have shields that could deflect the first shot. Psycho60 00:51, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Bumblebees

Doesn't anyone think the compliment should say Bumblebee Lifepods(speculation)Doylej0131 17:59, 9 May 2009 (UTC) Every UNSC ship should have bumblebees,so yea

As stated, every ship would have Bumblebee Lifepods, the real question is if you consider them compliment. I personally don't know, mostly because I define compliment as something that assists in combat (space or otherwise). However, Bumblebees are specifically to get out of combat and away from danger. Of course, I may be entirely wrong.XRoadToDawnX 21:46, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Disregard all of that. I checked the Pillar of Autumn's page and saw that Lifepods was listed under complement. So, doing the same here is alright.XRoadToDawnX 21:49, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

List of commanders

I was playing the HW level "Cleansing" today and noticed an interesting detail. On the side of the ship there's a list of previous commanders of the Spirit of Fire. Some of the names and years aren't clear, but it reads something like this:

  • Cutter: 2520-
  • Alexander: 2513-2520
  • Roggan: 2507-2513
  • Johnson: 2499-2505
  • Donald: 2491-2499
  • Rehkov: 24XX-2491
  • Coleman: 2473-2484

The Bridge

I was looking at the Spirit of Fire and thought the Bridge was at the front-top of the ship. Then I noticed in the "Descent" cutscene, the Bridge is on the fin. Am i looking at this right?

it has both a bridge up top and then an observation deck down low, that's the room with the glass floor and stuff from the cutscenes I think
