The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is an organization that assigns age and content ratings to video games in the United States and Canada. The organization was established in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Association in response to the concerns of politicians and parents about children having access to violent video games. The ESRB independently enforces ratings, advertising guidelines, and online privacy principles adopted by the industry. Nearly every game in the Halo series has had either a Teen (T) or Mature (M) rating except for Halo Recruit which received an Everyone 10+ (E10+) rating:
- Halo: Combat Evolved – Mature (M) for Blood, Gore, Violence
- Halo 2 – Mature (M) for Blood and Gore, Language, Violence
- Halo 3 – Mature (M) for Blood and Gore, Mild Language, Violence
- Halo Wars – Teen (T) for Mild Blood, Mild Language, Violence
- Halo 3: ODST – Mature (M) for Blood, Language, Violence
- Halo: Reach – Mature (M) for Blood, Violence
