The M12 Light Reconnaissance Vehicle (LRV) is a variant of the United Nations Space Command's M12 Force Application Vehicle.[2] Models fielded during the Insurrection and the Human-Covenant War featured a turret-mounted M41 Vulcan or M46 Vulcan,[3] while M12Bs are armed with a M343A2 chaingun.[4]
Design details
The M12 Light Reconnaissance Vehicle is designed to eliminate lightly armored personnel and low-flying aircraft. The most common variant of the M12 "Warthog", the LRV is nearly ubiquitous in ground engagements. The triple-barreled, electric-powered, linkless belt-fed machine gun is capable of firing 450 to 550 12.7x99mm armor penetrating rounds per minute. It is ranked a Common REQ in Warzone simulations, and is available at Level 2 energy while giving 50 REQ points if sold.

- Khaki skin - A variant with a khaki skin on it.
- Arctic skin - A variant with a arctic skin on it.
- Corp Warthog - A variant with extra armor used by the Liang Dortmund Corporation for defense against Kig-Yar pirates and Insurrectionists. It is ranked a Common REQ in Warzone simulations, and is available at Level 2 energy while giving 50 REQ points if sold.[4]
- Tundra Warthog - A tundra camouflaged variant used by the UNSC. Features better armor than the Corp Hog. It is ranked an Uncommon REQ in Warzone simulations, and is available at Level 2 energy while giving 75 REQ points if sold.[4]
- Urban Warthog - An urban camouflaged variant used by the UNSC. Features better armor than the Corp Hog. It is ranked an Uncommon REQ in Warzone simulations, and is available at Level 2 energy while giving 75 REQ points if sold.[4]
- Woodland Warthog - A woodland camouflaged variant used by the UNSC. Features better armor than the Corp Hog. It is ranked an Uncommon REQ in Warzone simulations, and is available at Level 2 energy while giving 75 REQ points if sold.[4]
- ONI Warthog - The ONI Warthog features better armor than the camouflaged models and a chaingun that fires high-explosive rounds. In War Games it takes 44 ONI M343A2 rounds to destroy the ONI Warthog. It is ranked a Rare REQ in Warzone simulations, and is available at Level 3 energy while giving 100 REQ points if sold.[4]
- #550 Scuderia StarSpeed M-12R - A race Warthog variant fitted with the latest hydrogen-burning turbines and ceramic applique armor, giving it heavy armor and greatly increased speed. It is ranked an Uncommon REQ in Warzone simulations, and is available at Level 2 energy while giving 75 REQ points if sold.[6]
- Sword Warthog - The Sword Needler Warthog features a M343A2 chaingun that fires blamite and is equipped with an energy shield. The Sword Hog is crimson and is adorned in Sangheili symbols associated with the Swords of Sanghelios. The vehicle is one of several innovations stemming from cooperation between the UNSC and the Swords of Sanghelios, specifically the former's use of Sangheili-created surface materials and other parts in their vehicles. In War Games the vehicle's shields will break after 7 BR85N and takes 6.93 seconds to recharge its shields. It takes 49 rounds from an ONI M343A2 to destroy a Sword Warthog. It is ranked a Rare REQ in Warzone simulations, and is available at Level 3 energy while giving 75 REQ points if sold.[7]
- Guard Upgraded Warthog - Otherwise known as the Armored Warthog, this upgrade to the M12 was in response to a completely new battlefield problem presented by the Banished and their brutal arsenal. Isabel has assisted the crew of the Spirit of Fire in using available resources to create up-armored variants of the Warthog to deploy in particularly adverse circumstances.[8]
