Burundi is a small African nation on Earth. It borders northwestern Tanzania and is supposedly part of the Unified Earth Government's East African Protectorate.
History
Burundi was an independent kingdom for more than 200 years, until the beginning of the twentieth century, when Germany colonized it. After the First World War and Germany's defeat, it ceded the territory to Belgium. Burundi gained independence in 1962 and initially had a monarchy, but a series of assassinations, coups, and a general climate of regional instability culminated in the establishment of a republic and one-party state in 1966. When the East African Protectorate was established, Burundi was incorporated into its union of nations.
Trivia
Vice Admiral Jean Mawikizi was retired and living in Burundi prior to being recalled to service by the UNSC during the Human-Covenant War.[1]
