Template:Article Quote The Pious Inquisitor,[2] renamed Naomi by Staffan Sentzke after his daughter,[3] was a Covenant CCS-class battlecruiser reputed to be one of the fastest ships in the Covenant fleet.
History
The Pious Inquisitor saw action at the Battle of Earth. The Inquisitor remained intact through the Battle of Earth, and when informed of the Great Schism, it joined forces with the Covenant separatists and returned to High Charity to join the Fleet of Retribution in preventing the Flood from spreading. Now part of the fleet, it joined pursuit of a Flood-controlled ship to Earth, after which it entered the Portal and took part in the Battle of Installation 00. Ultimately, the ship survived the battle.
After the war, the Pious Inquisitor returned to Sanghelios. The Sangheili entrusted the ship to the Skirmisher Sav Fel.[4][5] However, the Kig-Yar decided to sell the ship and began negotiating with insurrectionist Staffan Sentzke, who originally planned to use the ship to glass Earth.[5] Ultimately, the ship was destroyed when Kig-Yar shipmistress Chol Von and her crew detonated the ship's plasma torpedoes in an effort to deny the asset to opposing forces.[6]
Trivia
- The Pious Inquisitor is the setting for the Halo 2 multiplayer map Midship. The ship is also the location of the Halo 3 multiplayer map Heretic, a remake of Midship.
- The multiplayer map is set on the Covenant cruiser deck.[7] It is described as luxurious for a Covenant warship, so the hovering platform in the center of the room may be the control platform.
- According to bonus features in the Halo 2 Collector's Edition, Begotten Angel was the original name of the vessel featured in Midship.[8]
- On the Halo 3 multiplayer map Heretic, the Fleet of Retribution is seen through the ship's window, during their pursuit of the Flood-controlled ship towards Earth.[7]
