The Highland Mountains are a large group of mountain ranges at the Viery Territory[1] of the UNSC's colony planet Reach. The Highland mountains are home to many facilities used by HIGHCOM, including Camp Hathcock, Camp Independence and ONI's CASTLE Base under Menachite Mountain. After the Battle of Reach, these mountains were the only area not glassed by the Covenant, though glassing did occur in the area on a small scale.[2]
Other areas of the Highland Mountains include the Military Wilderness Training Preserve where Longhorn Valley, ODG Facility A-331 and the Big Horn River were located.
Wild blueberry bushes[3] and cedar trees[4] grew in the mountains.
