On the Data Leading to Alpha Halo

Oh, come now Tuckerscreator: another interpretaton of Halsey's words is that Noble 6's sacrifice allowed the Autumn to escape Reach and therefore allowed Humanity to find Halo. I believe that we should err on the side of generalization; we don't know that the artifact held any mention of the Halo Array, but we do know that it contained some form of Forerunner knowlege which was passed to Cortana. For your consideration---Bruce2401 23:29, 18 September 2011 (EDT)

So your basically saying that the artifact did nothing and that there was no point to it? --ハローファン (H1234-NET) 23:42, 18 September 2011 (EDT)
It certainly held some kind of knowledge regarding the Forerunners, but just because it may not have had the coordinates to Halo in particular, it doesn't render it meaningless. It's possible it held some knowledge on how to interpret the star chart from the Sigma Octanus IV artifact or how to interface with Halo's computer systems. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 07:16, 19 September 2011 (EDT)

What exactly the information was is unclear, but it's treated as if it's information that led to the direct discovery of Installation 04. There's also the fact that much of the plot established in The Fall of Reach has been retconned, so the status of Cortana's discovery at Sigma Octanus IV is unclear. The upcoming comic may help clear this up, but for now we should keep the statement. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 10:23, 19 September 2011 (EDT)

I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that the data from the complex, carried in the fragment of Cortana that was delivered to the Pillar of Autumn, allowed her to figure out the meaning of the Sigma Octanus IV coordinates when the two were reunited.--The All-knowing Sith'ari 11:31, 19 September 2011 (EDT)
Actually not that much of the novel was retconned; just the bit where the Covenant launch their opening attack being pushed back a month, leaving the 30th as the date that reinforcements arrived. It's fair to assume that the battle of Sigma Octanus IV still took place and that the events of the battle still did. Whether or not Cortana received the coordinates with the crystal data on its own is the question.-- Forerunner 13:46, 19 September 2011 (EDT)

Should then the sentence in question remain as it is or discuss the issue a little further? Because we can make guesses for what it did, but the game never says for itself. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 13:57, 19 September 2011 (EDT)

Given the wording in the eulogy, it's fair to assume the data from the Babd Catha artifact played some part in the discovery of Halo (and possibly unlocking its systems), but since we know not all of The Fall of Reach has been retconned, it's better to leave it as a little more vague than outright speculating the artifact may have held the location of Halo. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 14:07, 19 September 2011 (EDT)
