The UNSC Grafton (hull classification symbol: FFG-318) was a Paris-class heavy frigate in the UNSC Navy.[1]
Operational history
On August 12, 2552 during the Battle of Viery, Grafton provided fire support for UNSC Army forces engaging in combat in the Viery Territory, accompanied by the frigate UNSC Saratoga. During the battle, Grafton was authorized to utilize its Magnetic Accelerator Cannon to destroy a Covenant installation codenamed "Spire One".[1] Grafton succeeded in destroying the installation; however, with the dissipation of the spire's projected electromagnetic cloaking field, the Covenant supercarrier Long Night of Solace was revealed, hovering over the battle area. With its cloaking shield gone, the supercarrier opened fire on Grafton with its ventral energy projector, destroying the frigate with a single shot.[1]
Trivia
- The frigate is likely named after the Australian city of Grafton, New South Wales.
- The ship could also be named after the USS Grafton, an attack transport ship that served during World War II.
