The Heads-Up Display, or HUD for short, is the main source for information in-game on Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2.
Usually found on the inside of helmets of various types of body armor, HUD's are the standard, interactive interfaces for the user of a piece of armor. The information readouts they provide are vital to the survival of their user. They are featured in MJOLNIR armor, ODST Body Suits, and even Elite armor.
Readouts
The standard MJOLNIR armor contains the following readouts:
- A Meter of the relative Health of the armor's user
- A Gague of the status of the User's Shields
- A Gague of the ammo in the weapon the user is wearing.
- A Motion Tracker
- A Counter of Grenades the wearer is carrying.
- A targeting reticule which changes in relation to the wearer's weapon
In addition, Heads Up Displays can also display the following information:
- Aknowledgement lights from other members of the wearer's team
- Maps and information uploaded over the wearer's TACCOM.
- Zoom Function or function for using a Fiber Optic Probe.
