Template:Ratings Sky Bases are nothing more than boxes put up in the sky by the use of Forge.
How To Make Sky Bases
There are multiple ways to make sky bases, but first the objects must be floating. There are four ways of doing this. Each one is set out below.
The First Way
Step 1: Stack several boxes on top of each other, until the desired height is reached.
Step 2: Delete the unnecessary boxes.
Step 3: Repeat the first two steps until happy.
- Please note that most objects will fall when touched, and when they respawn, they will fall to the ground.
The Second Way
Step 1: Hold a teleporter (or in new map pack, certain objects themselves) as high in the air as wanted.
Step 2: Save the map, while still holding it.
Step 3: Exit the map.
Step 4: Go back into the map and it will be floating where it was left.
The Third Way
Step 1: Stack boxes in a tower, as high as wanted.
Step 2: Spawn a teleporter, doesn't matter what kind.
Step 3: Delete the tower.
Step 4: Place objects on top.
The Fourth Way
- Note, this one requires two players.
Step 1: Have player 2 spawn an object, like a crate.
Step 2: Player 1 spawns a teleporter and places it on top.
Step 3: Player 2 then deletes the object.
Step 4: the teleporter will now float.
The Fifth Way
On the Heroic or Legendary packs, you can stack up boxes like the first way, except when deleted they will stay up. Touching or shooting them will not knock them down.
Making The Bases
After getting the objects to float, making the bases is quite simple; all it requires is a little effort and some creativity. You can protect several parts of the bases with walls and turrets, making it perfect for capture the flag, assault and team slayer multiplayer variants. Also, it works better on some maps than others. For example, it would work better on Standoff and Foundry than Valhalla or Sandtrap, as it is a lot easier to get the objects to float.
What to do
You can make massive sky platforms that take up the top of the map, or you can just one or two small bases, that have sniper rifles placed on them, the only limitations are your imagination and the budget.
Fun things to do
If playing against friends, or its just a social match, try making a massive complex of platforms with vehicles, fortified areas, weapon caches, and, of course, teleporters for those who fall off. Another trick is to do it on Sandtrap and put the Elephants up on the floating bases and play a game of pirate ships.
- Saving boxes
If you want to save crates and boxes then do the following: place a grav lift and then place a double box on it's head. Then place a pallet on top of the double box. Delete the double box and you have a suspendid pallet. Repeat the process by placing a grav lift on the pallet, putting 2 double boxes on there heads and placing 1 on top of the other. Then place a pallet on top a delete the boxes underneath.
This is easy to repeat a 3rd, 4th and 5th time. By using this method you will be able to reach the highest point in standoff or build loads of floating pathways on foundry. Have fun!
But just watch out for Rockets and Spartan Lasers if most of your Sky Base is made up of boxes for the explosions might loosen or remove the boxes that were hit and those surronding the area of impact. Snipers are also a threat when you are up there because, while being up there, you are just making yourself a target.
