History

Originally, the area where Nairobi would later be built was an uninhabited swamp. In 1899, a supply depot for the Uganda Railway was built in the area, and soon became the railway's headquarters. In 1905, Nairobi replaced Mombasa as the capital of what was then referred to as the British Protectorate.[1] With the construction of the New Mombasa Orbital Elevator in the 23rd century, and the ensuing rise of importance of the city of New Mombasa, it is unknown if Nairobi still holds its position as the capital of the country.

During the Battle of Mombasa, civilians who managed to escape the city by trains headed to Nairobi. It is unknown what became of the city during the Covenant occupation of Earth.[2]
