Vanguard
Vanguard is a Halo 3 Meta-Game Achievement. It is earned when the player earns 50,000 points while playing the meta-game on The Covenant. This Achievement gives 10 Gamerpoints to the player.
It is represented by a blue circle with a coiling dragon, the symbol for a canceled Bungie product, Phoenix. A vanguard is the foremost section in an army.
It is relatively easy to earn this achievement due to its long nature but you will die ALOT along the way. Turn on Thunderstorm, Famine and Tough Luck skulls on normal and you should get 50,000 points, if you do it in time.
Trivia
- Meta in ancient Greek means 'after', so meta-game means after-game
- This could also be an indirect allusion to another designation for the Arbiter entitled by the Prophets, "Vanguards of the Great Journey"
- A vanguard is known to be a heavy battle unit usually carrying a large sickle or scythe.
