Hocus was a Pelican pilot in the UNSC Navy during the Second Battle of Earth. Stationed at the UNSC Crow's Nest base, until the facility came under heavy Covenant attack, she was instrumental in evacuating the rest of the survivors of the attack to the Human frigate UNSC Forward Unto Dawn. Hocus was the pilot of Pelican dropship Kilo 023. When flying from Crow's Nest, she assisted in extracting the Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson, along with a squad of liberated Marines, from the jungle near Voi. Hocus participated in numerous ground insertions during the Battle of the Ark, including a mission to deactivate the shield barriers surrounding the Ark's Control Room.
It is unknown if Hocus made it through the conflict alive, since the game does not mention her after the level The Covenant. It is most likely that she survived, and has returned to Earth along with the rest of the remaining Humans and Covenant Seperatists stationed over Installation 00.

Trivia
- Hocus has a very similar role of Foehammer, a Pelican pilot in the Halo: Combat Evolved. Her voice acting is almost identical to the original drop ship pilot's, as if in indirect reference to Foehammer.
- Using the IWHBYD skull on the level Halo on Halo 3 will cause Johnson to sometimes yell "I did this for Hocus!"
- On the level Crows Nest, you can see Hocus' face when she picks up the Marines after the Jumpack Brutes are killed, by jumping on the front of the pelican, however, she tends to have a different face from time to time, so it is unknown what she really looks like.
