Soell is the star that Threshold, Basis and Installation 04 orbit.[1]
The star's location in the galaxy is unknown. Prior to Halo's release, some speculated that it was actually the star Iota HorologiiTemplate:Fact (50 light-years from Earth[2]), based on hints from Bungie that that star was connected to the game somehow (specifically a sign left in front of the Bungie Webcam)Template:Fact.
Behind the scenes
- Although an excerpt in the 2003 Halo Sybex Guide is the first canon source to use the name, it was originally proposed by a fan, Loren Petrich.[3]
- The star's name is generally believed to be a reference to former Bungie Community Guy Matt Soell.[4]
