The caliber for the M99 SASR is actually quite small, being only 5.4mm, or .21 caliber. The M99 may very well be less potent that the much larger 14.5mm cartridges utilized in most UNSC Sniper Rifles, such as the SRS99 Series. However the small caliber may be nullified by an extremely high muzzle velocity, as evidenced by the astoundingly (by today's standards) long 4.5km killing range. The longest range confirmed rifle kill to date was at 2km. A possible explanation for this high velocity is that the Stanchion is in fact a coilgun as opposed to using standard chemical propellants. This is supported by the small generator seen plugged into the weapon. The weapon also appears to be able to use an input from a laptop, although whether it is a ballistics calculator needed to make the necessary calculations for such a long range kill, or merely used to regulate the rifle's power supply (if it does in fact use one) is unknown.

The M99 negates this by not using chemical propellents but actually uses magnetic forces like the M68 Gauss Cannon or MAC to proppel the round incredible distances and incredibly fast. The weapon also appears to be able to use an input from a laptop for ballistic calculations. It can also interface with other targetting and ocmputer systems for trajectory calculations, such as ARGUS Drones.

Template:Weapon The M99 Special Application Scoped Rifle, also known as the M99 Stanchion Gauss-rifle is a United Nations Space Command ground firearm. [1]

Operational Use

It was used by Corporal Avery J. Johnson during Operation: KALEIDOSCOPE (a mission where he used an M99 SASR to assassinate Jerald Mulkey Ander, a member of the Secessionist Union). It was also used during Operation: TRECBUCHET by Johson to stop Jim Dandy.

Caliber and Technology

The caliber for the M99 SASR is actually quite small, being only 5.4mm, or .21 caliber.

Trivia

 • It is also nicknamed the "Stanchion".
 • Other than the description and picture of the rifle, nothing else is yet known about this weapon.
