The Trip Mine is an equipment item that has been seen in the alpha build of Halo 3.
Background
It has not been confirmed to be in the finalized game. The Trip Mine, like the Bubble Shield, Power Drainer, and Portable Grav Lift, are all in the category of "Equipment". It can be deployed using the "X" Button. It may be the same thing as a Lotus Antitank Mine, as both are activated by nearby motion and inflict lethal damage to vehicles. The trip mine can be activated by proximity or touch. It can be picked up and deployed on the battlefield. A red light on top will be shown once activated and can be seen by other players. Careless players may walk into it accidentally and cause the mine to detonate, killing them. It's blast radius appears to be larger than a FRAG Grenade explosion, but smaller than a Rocket explosion. But it probably doesn't require much blast since it has to be tripped by some one close to it, on top of it, or by shooting it most likely. It is unknown if the mine can be deactivated once deployed.
Tactics
- When running away from a moving vehicle, a mine can be deployed in front of a moving enemy vehicle. Be careful though, it may kill not only the driver and passengers but you as well.
- The Mine, like the Bubble Shield, Power Drainer, and Portable Grav Lift, MUST be picked up in order to use.
- Like the Bubble Shield, the Power Drainer, and the Portable Grav Lift, only one Trip Mine spawns per game at any one time.
Spawns
This equipment spawns on Valhalla. This is not finalized.
