Eventually, someone figured out how to do it by hacking into the game files somehow. I don't know how he did it exactly, but I know the method wasn't revealed by Bungie. - The process probably got leaked to someone from Bungie staff. --ED(talk)(shockfront) 18:17, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

I remember when this was found
At the halo.bungie.org forums, there was some huge hoopla over the Megg when someone (don't know if it was Meg herself or someone else) revealed a few clues about it, designed to make everyone interested without giving away anything. If I remember correctly, all she said was that it was in one of the levels that had marines in it, and that it somehow involved marines.
The forums erupted in a furor of people speculating as to what it might be, how it would be found, etc. Meg obviously wasn't prepared for this and it got a little ugly at times, with people demanding more hints and refusing to let it go.
Eventually, someone figured out how to do it by hacking into the game files somehow. I don't know how he did it exactly, but I know the method wasn't revealed by Bungie. If no one had revealed the Megg's existence, it probably wouldn't have been found until someone decided to use a trainer to fly/noclip through the single player levels in the PC version.
