The nukes provided a shield from the bullets. A rebel-controlled MAKO drone gave chase to the Warthog until it released a missile which was destroyed by the SPARTANs' [[pelican]]. Depleted uranium rounds destroyed the missile before it could reach the M12 Warthog which by then was riddled with AP rounds from the rebel "Confetti Makers". The Warthog still was able to reach the LZ for pick up.

Template:Ship The Warthog Armored Personnel Carrier is a United Rebel Front ground vehicle.

It is an uncommon variant of the standard M12 Warthog LRV, but with a passenger section capable of holding ten passengers bolted between the driver section and the gunner section, resulting in a significant increase in overall length. Conceptually, it is a cousin of the Warthog Troop Transport. However, the Troop Transport Warthog only seats three Marines in the back.

The passenger section is not particularly well armored, being vulnerable the armor-piercing ammunition of most UNSC small arms fire. This section appears to have a roof with a sliding armored section on it, similar in concept to the sun roof of a modern car, perhaps for quick loading and unloading or troops and supplies and to shield its loads from the elements, and any small arms fire.[1]

Trivia

  • Contrary to popular belief, it is not the transport Warthog seen in early Halo 2 renders or the Halo 3 E3 video. That is the M831 TT Warthog.
