It is more likely that they were killed or taken captive by the [[Onyx Sentinel]]s that occupy the area, hence the name "Ghosts" of Onyx.

Little is known about "Team X-ray".[1] They were a team in the Spartan-III Program. They went training near Zone 67 on Onyx where they dissapeared. It was discovered years later by Kurt, surviving Spartan II and IIIs, Cathrine Halsey and Franklin Mendez that they had encountered the Onyx Sentinels. After their encounter, several were placed in cryo inside Slipspace.

Their tubes were later brought to the Dyson Sphear.
