The UNSC Iwo Jima was a UNSC Naval destroyer. She was assigned to Battlegroup Stalingrad of the UNSC Home Fleet that was sent to aid the Spartan-III's in the Battle of Onyx. The Iwo Jima was destroyed in 2552 during the Battle of Onyx in the Human-Covenant War.

Background

The ship was part of Battlegroup Stalingrad and saw action at the Battle of Onyx. During the first engagement against Covenant ships in that battle, she grazed a Covenant carrier while attempting to disengage and crashed into two destroyers. The Iwo Jima then self-destructed, destroying the two enemy warships in the process.[4]
