Valhalla is a multiplayer level in Halo 3. A from-the-ground-up level, said to be 'the new Blood Gulch', it is a forested valley with mountains in the distance, a creek running through the middle, and a large number of small hills and large outcroppings of rocks. Bungie added the new land features to help balence the scaled between snipers and players running from base to base, as in Blood Gulch and Coagulation, those players not in vehicles were to easy pray for snipers who find heaven in the rocks, tunnles and ridges consistent throughout the map.

Valhalla has "Man Cannons" (Because, according to an Electronic Gaming Monthly Halo 3 playtest, it makes Bungie giggle.) like Gravity Lifts on Halo 2, instead of launching you up, they launch you in a bow angle. It has been said that they make a loud noise like the grav lifts.[1] There are at least two Man Cannons at each base, one of which fires you in the direction of the other base (They are said to land you in very defensible spots), while the other fires you off to the side, at one base into thick trees, the other into some rocks (these ones are said to be good for stealth).

Not much is yet known for spawns. There are two similar hill on either side of the river running through the, on one spawns the Spartan Laser, while the other holds a gun turret. The Sniper Rifle and several of all grenades spawn below the bases. Numerous Battle Rifles are said to spawn around the map. The current vehicle set is a Banshee, Scorpion, and Wraith, along with two Mongooses (Which is the proper plural, according to Bungie, although they prefer Mongi) at each base.

The base's tower's architecture are similar to the Forerunner's technology. In fact, the towers are almost identical to the constructs seen in the Halo 1 campaign level Halo.

Trivia

  • According to the scandinavian (Viking) mythology, Valhalla is the world where gods live, and where the life after death is hold.
  • Many are confused to the new name, though it has no connection to blood, like the previous in the Blood Gulch family had. It seems though that this name is to be related to the word MJOLNIR, because they're both from the same mythology.
  • Additionally, from newly released screenshots a D-77 TC Pelican Dropship can be seen to have crashed somewhere on the map. further, weapons canisters from the dropship appear to be scattered across the battlefield.
