First Battle of Mombasa

The Battle of New Mombasa was a battle between United Nations Space Command and Covenant forces that took place in the UNSC city New Mombasa on the planet Earth on October 20, 2552.

Battle

Between 0150 and 01630 hours- The Covenant start deploying forces in the area, including a Scarab for heavy armor. Three Pelicans are sent from the In Amber Clad. Sergeant Johnson and Master Chief's Pelican is shot down by the Scarab and hunker down at an isolated position and wait for extraction. Gunnery Sergeant Pete Stacker and an ODST squad, who were onboard the second pelican, are also shot down. They move up the beach to Hotel Zanzibar and set up a bunker, after killing several covenant soldiers. They wipe out several Covenant units along the way.

The Chiefs group kills several waves of covenant forces including two Hunters. The third pelican flies over the area and lands. Sergeant Johnson is extracted to help with armored units entering the city onboard the third pelican. Pinned down units in Hotel Zanzibar are saved by Spartan 117. Units at the bridge are decimated as the Scarab blows through any and all UNSC forces.

Spartan 117 arrives at the bridge to assess situation and reinforcments are sent including a Scorpion Battle tank. The Chief travels across the bridge linking Old Mombassa and New Mombassa. The 405th out of Diego Garcia make landfall at city square and are quickly surrounded by Covenant troops.

The 105th ODST unit, lead by Spartan 117, are called to city square for a last defense. The assault on the City Square is major, due to the fact there are three Wraiths and two Ghosts. After the assault is finished they try to destroy the Scarab with a Scorpion Tank.

The Scarab quickly takes down the Scorpion and climbs over City Square into the Canals. It is now trapped there.

The Chief follows the scarab along a causeway until he reaches the point where the scarab can't continue. He then humps onto the scarab. After killing the Covenant forces on and below deck, and destroying the Scarab, he is then extracted by the surviving pelican back to the In Amber Clad. The Prophet of Regrets assault carrier prepares to jump away from Earth. Just in time, the pelican enters the Frigate, which in turn enters the slipspace wake of the Assault Carrier. The jump causes the entire city to be either destroyed or sucked into Slipspace.
