The Hopeful station is a UNSC Research facility. In 2525, Dr. Catherine Halsey had a number of expirements done on the Hopeful, much to the displeasure of her former teacher and Chief Medical Officer of the station, Admiral Ysionris Jeromi.[1] Those experiments were later done on the Spartan soldiers.
