An Ultra of the Yanme'e contingent of the Covenant is considered one of the highest infantry ranks for the species.
Description[edit]
One of the higher Yanme'e ranks in the Covenant military, Ultras are often in command of lower-ranking Yanme'e, like the Majors or Minors.
Equipment[edit]
Yanme'e Ultras are distinguished by their green[1] or white[2] exoskeletons, along with paired forked horn-like structures on their head and cephalothorax. Yanme'e Ultras are often armed with Type-25 plasma pistols, and sometimes Type-33 Needlers. Ultras are equipped with anti-gravity technology that is attached to their wings that allow them to fly freely.[3]
In-game information[edit]
Halo 3: ODST[edit]
In Halo 3: ODST, Ultras appear with white carapaces, classed as a Yanme'e infantry rank alongside those of the Minor and Major. In Firefight, Ultras spawn roughly once for every three Majors spawned, or every five Minors.
Halo: Reach[edit]
Unlike the previous game, in Halo: Reach Ultras appear with dark green carapaces and a forward protruding horn. Unlike most lower-ranking Drones, Yanme'e Ultras often land on the ground when engaged in combat, making them an easier target. In Halo: Reach, using the Thunderstorm skull causes all Drones to either spawn as the Major or Ultra rank.[1] Automatic weapons are useful at killing the Drone.
