John-117 picks up a Spartan core from the body of Spartan Bonita Stone. From Halo Infinite campaign level Foundation.
John-117 recovers a modular core from Bonita Stone's body.

The Spartan core is a piece of modular UNSC equipment that is used to install field enhancements on the GEN3 MJOLNIR armor, allowing Spartan operators to adapt to their environmental needs and mission specifications.[1]

Overview

Design details

The modular Spartan cores are installed with the binaries for a wide range of offensive and defensive peripheral systems and components, such as surveillance upgrades, stealth systems, and enhanced thruster modules. Each core can be readily integrated with the MJOLNIR platform, and even applied directly while in the field. The modular cores all Spartans to take on a wide range of mission objectives; as such, they also contribute to the GEN3 platform's overall versatility and cost-effectiveness.[2]

Usage

Cores are typically carried in encoded crates on the battlefield.[3] During the Battle for Zeta Halo, John-117 recovered a number of cores, including those from the armors of Bonita Stone,[4] Hudson Griffin,[5] Vedrana Makovich, and Theodore Sorel;[6] he was able to spontaneously install each core, along with their upgrades, on his own armor with ease.
