Emergency Contact Protocol Upsilon also known as Emergency biohazard response UPSILON, is a protocol used to limit Flood expansion and initiate full quarantine. All Unified Earth Government and United Nations Space Command rules of engagement are suspended during the duration of the containment.[1] Upon declaration of UPSILON, Spartan Flood containment Fireteams may be deployed to assist with quarantine efforts, though are specifically prohibited from handling samples of Flood biomass, or attempted treatment of wounded personnel.[2]
The protocol has been enacted at least once, in an event in which the Spartan fireteam deployed to Site 22 fell to the Flood and forced UNSC Saturn to declare the CORRUPTER protocol and turn its weapons on the target site.[3]
