The Weapon/Anti-Vehicle Model 6/E Grindell/Galilean Nonlinear Rifle (W/AV M6/E G/GNR), colloquially known as the M6/E Spartan Laser or the E ("Enhanced") model M6,[5] is a variant of the M6 Spartan Laser directed-energy weapon manufactured by Misriah Armory and used by the United Nations Space Command.[1]
Overview
Design details
- Main article: M6 Spartan Laser
The M6/E Spartan Laser is one of a myriad of variants of the M6 Grindell/Galilean Nonlinear Rifle, an initially exorbitantly expensive weapon which underwent several refinements and iterations to reduce its cost.[6] As with all variants of the Spartan Laser, the M6/E has an integrated and smart-linked Wyrd III optics suite, capable of 3× magnification.[1] Manufactured after the Human-Covenant War, the M6/E is installed with miniaturized components derived from the nonlinear cannon M6 variant originally mounted on the chin of the AV-22 Sparrowhawk.[4] Despite functionally just as capable as other variants, the M6/E is an order of magnitude cheaper to manufacture.[5]
Variants
- Endgame: An improved model of the M6/E variant with a doubled battery capacity and reduced charge time. It has the downside of having less strength than its normal counterpart.
- Selene's Lance: An advanced variant of the M6/E model, built using new components from the labs in Seongnam. It has a faster charge time and a longer beam duration, with 50% additional battery capacity compared to its normal counterpart. The targeting laser is also harmful. In War Games simulations, balancing adds extra recoil and removes the beam's ability to pierce through multiple targets. It is also equipped with a Forerunner anti-materiél effect that can disintegrate enemies upon death or dead bodies in the same manner as the Scattershot and Incineration Cannon.
Usage
The M6/E was upgraded to combat heavy armor,[1] and functions primarily as an anti-tank ordnance.[5] In the wake of the Created conflict, the M6/E became the variant preferred by UNSC Infinity's Spartan-IVs to combat the emergent Forerunner threats.[1]
Gameplay
- Main article: Spartan Laser
The M6/E Spartan Laser is featured in Halo 5: Guardians as a usable weapon known as the Spartan Laser. It is a power weapon, which fires a powerful laser that deals an incredible amount of damage, destroying all vehicles with a single well-placed shot. The Spartan Laser is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, and to compensate, it has a limited use of four shots, a short cooldown after a discharge, and inability to pick up ammo.
Production notes
The Selene's Lance variant of the M6/E Spartan Laser is likely named after the Greek Goddess of the same name.
