The M6C Personal Defense Weapon System,[3] otherwise known as the M6C Magnum Sidearm, is a United Nations Space Command sidearm. It is a variant of Misriah Armory's M6 handgun series.

Overview

Design Details

The M6C PDWS is a semi-automatic sidearm utilized by the United Nations Space Command. The M6C is a departure from other designs in the M6 Series. While it retains the large handguard and ridges on the rear slide, the M6C's safety mechanism is located on the slide itself rather than below it on other models.

Although less powerful and effective than other UNSC sidearms, the M6C sees continued use due to its resilience and reliability coupled with a comfortable and compact design alongside being highly affordable and easy to produce. [4]

Usage

The M6C was used by UNSC personnel as early as 2525.[5] Use of the M6C continued through the Human-Covenant War, and it was used by UNSC Navy and Marine Corps personnel aboard the UNSC In Amber Clad and during the early stages of the Battle for Earth and Battle of Installation 05.[6]

Ammunition

The M6C Magnum fires M225 12.7x40mm Semi Armor-Piercing High Explosive cartridges from a 12-round magazine.[4]

Gameplay

Advantages

The M6C Magnum is a reliable sidearm for quickly finishing off enemies whose shields have already been stripped. With the new dual-wield feature in Halo 2, the Magnum can be used in the Noob Combo alongside a plasma pistol, enabling the player to quickly drain an enemy's shields using the plasma pistol's overcharge and finish them off with a headshot from the Magnum.

Disadvantages

The M6C Magnum has low damage, is fairly inaccurate, and is largely ineffective past close or medium range. These factors make the Magnum a poor choice for use in one-on-one fights with shielded opponents unless the player is capable of first draining the opponent's shields with a grenade or melee attack.

Changes from the M6D PDWS in Halo: Combat Evolved

  • The M6C has a much faster fire rate, but far less stopping power.
  • Lacks a targeting scope.
  • Takes 13 headshots to kill rather than 3.
  • Can be dual-wielded.

Changes from Halo 2 to Halo 2: Anniversary

  • Takes 11 headshots to kill rather than 13 in multiplayer.
  • Overall update as part of Anniversary remaster.

Trivia

  • The Halo 2 Post Game Carnage Report Breakdown Tab on Bungie.net erroneously lists the weapon as the "Magnum M6G Pistol".
  • The M6Cs bears a remarkable resemblance to the Walther P99 pistol, though the latter handgun is much smaller than the former.
