Also considering the long-standing legacy that twentieth century National Socialism has had upon German culture, it is more than likely that the Frieden movement based its philosophy, or at least part of it, upon old Nazism.

In 2160, before the formation of the UEG and UNSC, the Frieden, a fascistic movement springing from anti-Koslovic sentiment in the Jovian Moons (largely backed by Unified German Republic corporations, frequent targets of Koslovic "workers' crusades") was formed to achieve peace by destroying the "oppressors on Terra Firma" and it attacked the UN Colonial Advisors on Io, sparking the Jovian Moons Campaign, the Rain Forest Wars, a series of clashes on Mars, all part of the Interplanetary War. Both the Frieden and the Koslovics were defeated by the UN and formally surrendered with the Callisto Treaty in 2170. "Frieden" literally means "peace"—in this case, they believed that peace could be achieved only once the "oppressors on Terra Firma" were eliminated. [1]

Organizational Aims

Judging by the term "secessionist", it is clarified that the Frieden movement's main goal was to separate itself from the United Nations' authority and create an independent government in the Jovian Moons.
