Energy Bridge on Installation 04.

The Energy bridge, otherwise known as a Light bridge, is a Forerunner technology.

It has two components: a control panel and what are believed to be energy projectors. The control panel is a semitranslucent holographic array of lines, circles, and polygons that is projected from the surface of Forerunner metal. Tapping a "blue-green circle"[1] activates the bridge. Photons begin to stream between the two projector arrays, and are stimulated by unknown excitations to "displace the air around them", becoming a firm, solid bridge of coherent bluish light, capable of holding large amounts of weight, including M12 Warthog LRVs. When damaged, the bridge transiently flickers, occasionally dropping peoples crossing over the bridge into the space below[2].

Energy bridges were present in Halo: Combat Evolved, and made appearances in Forerunner underground complexes on Installation 04: the subterranean complexes in the campaign level Halo and the Flood Containment Facilities 343 Guilty Spark. There is also a light bridge in the Halo 3 level The Covenant
