The Energy bridge is a Forerunner technology.
It has two components: a control panel and what are believed to be energy projectors. The control panel is a semitranslucent holographic array of lines, circles, and polygons that is projected from the surface of Forerunner metal. Tapping a "blue-green circle"[1] activates the bridge. Photons begin to stream between the two projector arrays, and are stimulated by unknown excitations to "displace the air around them", becoming a firm, solid bridge of coherent bluish light, capable of holding large amounts of weight, including M12 Warthog LRVs.
Light bridges were present exclusively in Halo: Combat Evolved, and made appearances in underground complexes: the Forerunner subterranean facilities in the campaign level Halo and 343 Guilty Spark.
