War Chieftains,[1] or War Chiefs for short,[2] were in charged of all Legionmasters in the Banished. They were below the authority of the Warmaster.

Following the death of War Chief Decimus,[1] the Banished's original second-in-command,[3] War Chief Escharum became the next second-in-command of the Banished.[4] After Atriox's presumed death, Escharum effectively became the leader of the Banished, although he continued going by the title of War Chief rather than taking up Atriox's title of Warmaster. Escharum held this title until his death at the hands of the Master Chief in the Battle of the House of Reckoning during the Battle for Zeta Halo.[5]
