The Chwich-pattern Sky Striker, known colloquially as the Saker, is an automated artillery emplacement employed by the Sangheili prior to the War of Beginnings. Manufactured by local forges on Hesduros, they were re-entered into service with Jul 'Mdama's Covenant during the Blooding Years.[1]
Overview
Design details
The Chwich is a Hesduros-designed weapon emplacement, consisting of a heavy plasma cannon mounted atop a small base. The emplacement is served by a remote-link, allowing an operator to target and aim the weapon from afar.[1]
Usage
The original Sakers were employed by the Sangheili in their earlier eras of spaceflight, prior to the founding of the Covenant. Following the empire's dissolution, many found their way into the hands of Jul 'Mdama's revived Covenant. These renewed models were manufactured by local war forges, or stripped from older war-hulks.[1] It is unclear if the Chwich-pattern Saker is related to the Shumku-pattern fusion saker employed on the R'sikosh-pattern man o' war - a vestige warship similarly employed by the Sangheili in ancient times.
In-game information
Halo 4
The Saker was never officially seen in the original Xbox 360 release of Halo 4. Following the update to the game's Forge mode in Season 4: Reclaimer for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the Saker was added to the maps Forge Island, Ravine, Impact and Erosion as a placeable (and destroyable) static prop.
